Pipe bursting for damaged sewers is a trenchless method of renewal. As part of this method, the old pipe is burst or cut open, thus being destroyed, and is radially displaced into the surrounding soil. Behind the bursting head hangs the new, factory-produced product pipe joined together on the construction site (made of, e.g., PP HM or PE 100 RC or SPC RC). It is drawn directly into the free cross section.

With the pipe bursting method special attention must be paid to the surrounding soil (displaceability) and any other pipes that cross or have been laid parallel. Connecting up the building service pipes is usually performed by means of the open-cut method.

The pipe bursting method is subdivided into two different processes: dynamic pipe bursting and static pipe bursting.

As a system manufacturer, SIMONA offers not only pipes and electrofusion sockets but also application-specific fittings according to construction site requirements – solutions tailored to the pipe bursting method for gravity piping systems

Rehabilitation range

DN 100 – DN 1200
Pipe bursting can be used for the rehabilitation of all tough and brittle materials commonly used for sewers (with the exception of reinforced concrete pipes). Material combinations such as ducts that have already been rehabilitated with tubular liners can also be renewed by the pipe bursting method.
