SIMONA at InnoTrans 2026
Company Press releases
Rising demands for sustainability, fire protection, design freedom and cost efficiency are presenting the rail and mobility industry with complex challenges. In the interior sector in particular, materials today must meet a wide range of criteria – from weight reduction and recyclability to durability in operation and an appealing visual appearance.
With SIMORAIL, SIMONA will present at InnoTrans 2026 a high-performance product family of thermoplastic sheets specifically designed to meet these requirements.
SIMORAIL sheets enable robust, dimensionally stable and durable components, while at the same time supporting modern design concepts through a wide variety of colors and surface finishes. Compared to other materials such as metal or GRP, thermoplastic sheets offer lower weight and efficient processing, and they are also fully recyclable. As a result, they contribute measurably to resource conservation and the reduction of CO₂ emissions across the entire lifecycle. The through-colored material also helps to reduce the visibility of scratches without requiring additional processing steps such as painting.
The SIMORAIL portfolio includes flame-retardant sheet solutions for applications such as wall cladding, seat components, partitions and ceiling elements, and complies with relevant international fire safety standards such as EN 45545 and NFPA 130.
This year, there is a special focus on two specific variants:
SIMORAIL AG – for durable and attractive vehicle interiors
SIMORAIL AG combines anti-graffiti protection with extensive design options. The integrated anti-graffiti film is chemically resistant and can withstand a wide range of cleaning agents. Even stubborn contamination from spray paints, ballpoint pens or permanent markers can be removed using suitable cleaners – without damaging the surface.
In addition, SIMORAIL AG offers maximum design flexibility: customized colors, a wide range of high-quality decors – such as wood, metal or stone looks – as well as various textures enable visible and tangible differentiation.
SIMORAIL circular – for resource-efficient and CO₂-reduced interior solutions
With SIMORAIL circular, SIMONA is specifically expanding its portfolio with a recycling-based variant, enabling a significantly reduced Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) while maintaining safety-related requirements.
SIMORAIL circular is manufactured using a high proportion of internal regrind (PIR), depending on the application and specification up to 100%. In terms of fire protection, processability and surface quality, this variant is equivalent to established SIMORAIL solutions. It therefore enables substantial PCF reduction, particularly for non-visible or color-independent components – without compromising on safety or performance.
With the SIMORAIL product range, SIMONA demonstrates at InnoTrans 2026 how functional requirements, design freedom and sustainability aspects can be combined in the interior sector.
