Kirn, September 2, 2025. At K 2025, the world's leading plastics trade show, SIMONA will be demonstrating how smart solutions featuring thermoplastics can help to tackle the world's most pressing challenges. The focus is on products and services tailored to the needs of the chemical process industry, interior design solutions for trains, buses, and aircraft, components used in the water and energy supply sector as well as products deployed in the field of advertising and construction – all brought together by one central theme: sustainability.
Drawing on a host of innovative materials, digital tools, and practice-oriented concepts, SIMONA will be showcasing its capabilities as a development partner for a world of plastics that combines the key aspects of efficiency, environmental responsibility, and technical excellence. Visitors to the trade show can expect a booth brimming with interactive exhibits, complemented by virtual showrooms and fascinating insights into forward-looking projects.
Infrastructure: Next-generation technology to drive the energy transition
As a growth market, cable ducting for power lines is making a significant contribution to the energy transition. SIMONA's SIMOClearWeld Technology is a next-generation solution when it comes to the joining of pipes. It provides the basis for weld seam-free joints without an internal bead – with documented precision and time savings of up to 45%. The key benefits are presented by means of a digital exhibit at the company's trade show booth. Conventional butt welding creates welding beads. These beads protrude into the pipe interior itself and have to be removed as part of an additional processing step to ensure that the cables to be protected can be drawn through the pipe as smoothly as possible. This translates into lost time and higher costs. In the case of SIMOClearWeld Technology, these beads are placed within a recess of the pipe wall using an innovative welding process that eliminates the need for subsequent bead removal. SIMONA's patent-pending SIMOClearWeld Technology features a specially developed SIMOClearWeld welding machine and precision-engineered SIMOClearDuct cable protection ducts. Minimal manufacturing tolerances and CNC-controlled recess machining ensure high-precision welded joints whose parameters are documented as part of a fully automated process. The result: perfect-fit precision, consistent quality, and efficient operations – ideal for deployment under construction site conditions. SIMOClearWeld means a significant boost in productivity for construction companies and welding teams. This pioneering solution paves the way for faster, more precise, and highly automated pipe connections. Under optimum conditions, the cycle time is reduced by up to 45% compared to conventional processes – with only a minimal 9% reduction in the applicable tensile load resistance. The system can be applied to both open-trench and trenchless installation methods – including HDD drilling technology. Over 300 km of SIMOClearDuct pipes have already been installed – clear proof of the practicality and benefits of this technology.
Industry: High-performance materials for demanding applications
SIMONA offers a wide-ranging portfolio of durable and easy-to-process materials for industrial applications. An interactive desk of discovery provides insights into solutions for chemical process engineering, the semiconductor industry, and industrial water treatment.
SIMONA® SEMICON represents the most comprehensive product portfolio in America, Europe, and Asia when it comes to equipping state-of-the-art semiconductor factories. The portfolio includes sheets, rods, and welding rods, FM4910-certified products including FM-PP, FM-PVC, and fluoropolymers as well as pipes and fittings made of PP and PVDF.
SIMODUAL2 is a double-containment pipe system for aggressive chemicals handling in industrial operations. One of its key benefits is the extended service life of the inner pipe carrying the substance. Due to its high-pressure resistance, the outer pipe offers tightness and maximum protection in the event of unexpected leaks. SIMONA has extended its range of SIMODUAL2 double-containment pipes made of PE and PP to include PVDF. This enables a temperature range of -30 to +140 degrees Celsius. The product boasts chemical resistance to particularly aggressive chemicals and the majority of organic and inorganic substances.
Mobility: Versatile plastics for the transformation of the transport sector
Mobility of the future is another focal point at this year's event: SIMONA will be showcasing state-of-the-art thermoplastics for the interiors of passenger vehicles and aircraft. The materials used combine the benefits of functionality, safety, and freedom of design. Visitors can experience the products in a virtual showroom and via an interactive 3D configurator that visualizes the various design options for seating systems.
SIMORAIL is a product range created specifically for the interiors of trains, buses, and streetcars, while SIMONA Boltaron products are tailored to the requirements of aircraft interior design. Both product families feature limitless variety in terms of color, texture, and design, complemented by compliance with strict fire regulations and the benefits of excellent workability and easy cleaning – ideal for applications such as seating, partition walls, ceiling elements, or wall cladding. At the same time, SIMONA offers product variants in both areas, combining sustainability with high functionality.
SIMORAIL AG is a high-performance plastic sheet product with an integral anti-graffiti film that effectively protects surfaces on public transport against graffiti and all types of soiling. The chemical- and UV-resistant film has been designed to ensure effortless cleaning of even the most stubborn marks without damaging the surface or requiring additional paintwork. This reduces time-consuming cleaning processes, material wear, and outages, which translates into a significant cut in resource consumption and operating costs.
TERREFORM® introduces sustainable solutions to the aviation industry: featuring recycled materials, it meets exacting aviation standards (FAR) and combines high performance with esthetic versatility. TERREFORM® is the perfect choice for the responsible use of materials by airlines, taking into account the aspects of sustainability, safety, and design – a prime example of environmentally friendly innovation in the aircraft industry.
Advertising & Construction: Lightweight materials for creative design
In the area of advertising and construction, SIMONA will be showcasing its extensive application-specific range of PVC foam sheets. SIMOPOR free-foam sheets are predestined for applications in which esthetics and lightweight design are essential, e.g., in the field of digital printing or trade show and display design. Co-extruded SIMONA® COPLAST sheets offer the benefits of excellent surface appearance and high rigidity. Thanks to their UV and weathering resistance, they are also the perfect product for outdoor applications. The portfolio has been extended to include SIMONA® CELPLAST®, a rigid foam sheet manufactured by means of the Celuka method. Thanks to its smooth and compact surface structure, low weight, and ease of processing, SIMONA® CELPLAST® is the perfect choice for building and construction applications. All three products are recyclable. To an increasing extent, they are also manufactured using recycled materials – a contribution to greater sustainability in the fields of visual communication and construction.
